Our Process
How We Work
A straightforward approach to delivering exceptional finishing work, from first conversation to final detail.

Initial Inquiry
We gather key details — timeline, scope, urgency, location, and desired outcome — and arrange an on-site inspection, usually within the week.
On-Site Assessment
We inspect conditions, discuss options, organise colour or finishes consultation if required, and measure the work so an accurate price can be provided.
Scheduling & Execution
Finishes are applied with precision and care under the direction of a Master Craftsman, with attention to detail at every stage.
Completion & Handover
We complete a final inspection, leave the site clean, provide a touch-up tin and finishes schedule, and ensure you feel confident in the result.
All projects are completed by our core team from start to finish, with an experienced senior member on site throughout. Where specialist skills are required, we collaborate with trusted experts while maintaining direct oversight and responsibility for the outcome.

We do take on selected smaller projects, especially where the finish requires a high level of care, detail, or specialist knowledge. If the job isn't the right fit for Crafted Finishes, we can often recommend a suitable finisher we work alongside.
Yes. We regularly work with homeowners, builders, designers, architects, and other trades on high-end residential projects where finish quality matters. We love guiding builders, homeowners, and architects with hands-on experience and deep product knowledge, while creatively collaborating with designers to bring bespoke finishes, textures, and colours to life.
Yes, wherever possible. We champion clarity, so our quoting process is detailed and considered, with the aim of defining the scope properly and giving you a clear understanding of the expected cost. Unexpected challenges can happen, especially in restoration work, but we communicate clearly if anything changes.
Yes. We regularly work alongside InStyle and Colour and often recommend a colour consultation with Eileen before work begins. We then collaborate closely to help bring the finishes, textures, and colour palette together cohesively throughout the home. We can also guide you through sheen levels, finish selection, and how different materials and surfaces will influence the overall feel and atmosphere of the space.
Yes. Crafted Finishes is fully licensed and insured, and our work is carried out to professional trade standards with a strong focus on preparation, product knowledge, and long-term durability.
We specialise in premium residential painting, full interior and exterior repaints, restoration work, custom new homes, Venetian plaster, Marmorino, lime finishes, and other bespoke surface finishes. We especially love working with natural materials and high-end exclusive finishes that bring depth, character, and a genuine wow factor to a home.
We work across the Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Montville, Maleny, the Hinterland, and surrounding areas. For heritage, restoration, or specialised finish projects, we're happy to travel further afield.
For larger projects such as whole-home repaints, we recommend getting in touch at least 3 months in advance. Smaller projects can often be seen to sooner, depending on our schedule. At times our lead time may extend beyond this, especially during busy periods, so early enquiries are always best.
These are broad terms often used loosely — and sometimes inaccurately — to describe decorative plaster finishes. At their roots, both come from traditional lime-based finishes developed centuries ago in Italy, but today the terms can cover a wide range of textures, depths, and polish levels depending on the materials and technique used. For a deeper dive into the history, materials, and finish styles, check out our Designer Finishes page.
Microcement, as the name suggests, originally referred to a thin cementitious coating applied like plaster. Nowadays, the term is used much more broadly to describe thin, hard-wearing decorative coatings with subtle movement and variation in colour. Modern microcements can be made from a range of materials including cement, epoxy, and polyurethane systems — some don't contain cement at all. The name today is more about the look and function: a seamless, durable surface finish with depth and character. For a deeper dive, check out our Designer Finishes page.
This is one of the key differences between standard painting and lasting restoration. We understand and utilise specialist epoxy repair systems from Norseal, TimbaBuild, and Sealaseal for long-term timber and rot repair. These systems can penetrate deeply, harden compromised timber, and flex with the wooden substrate for lasting protection. Where possible, rusted components are replaced with stainless steel or fresh galvanised screws, fittings, and brackets. Where treatment is required, we use appropriate two-pack coating systems to provide industrial-grade protection for the home. We understand these systems well and use them with care.
Preparation is the foundation of a lasting finish. Paint can only ever be as strong as the surface underneath it. A rushed paint job may look fresh on day one, but within months the underlying issues can begin pushing back through the coating system — rust stains, efflorescence, flaking paint, mould, rot, blistering roof coatings, peeling doors, and chalky walls. Poor site cleanliness can create its own problems too: overspray, paint splatter, dust contamination, messy edges, and missed timelines due to disorganisation. In 5–10 years, a cheaply painted home may need far more than repainting. Timber may need replacing, rust may need serious repair, and failed coatings may need stripping before the job can be done properly. A well-prepared and well-painted home is different. With simple maintenance, it can still look close to the day it was finished — and when it is eventually time to repaint, the process is cleaner, simpler, and often much more cost-effective.
Microcement can be a beautiful finish, but it is also a very broad category. Some systems perform well, others do not. It is a fast-moving and booming industry, with new products and distributors appearing regularly. That means some systems may not have been fully tested in the market before they are installed in real homes. In the right setting, microcement can create a unique finish that people stop and ask about — but it needs to be chosen carefully. At Crafted Finishes, we do not apply microcement to floors, pools, or inside showers. We may consider benchtops, seats, and selected feature areas, but generally we prefer to keep these types of finishes on walls and ceilings. In many cases, we believe Marmorino outshines microcement — it is more natural, healthier, better looking, better feeling, and often more cost-effective. You are not paying for hype; you are investing in a finish with thousands of years of tradition behind it.
